About This Material

A luminous white ground has a fine, softly polished appearance and subtle natural variation. Supplier-declared properties Density: approx. 2.68–2.72 g/cm³. Compressive strength: 110–135 MPa; flexural strength is described as medium, with no figure supplied. Water absorption: low, approx. 0.15%–0.35%; natural micropores are present and acid can etch and dull the carbonate stone. Mohs hardness: 3–4; the material is described as soft and suitable for carving, but sharp hard objects can still scratch it. Good translucency allows a backlit strip effect. Characteristics The source describes Fangshan, Dashiwo white marble as a scarce, historic material with cultural associations; each slab varies naturally. Polishing produces a bright, translucent surface with visible sparkling crystals. Can be cut, shaped, curved, waterjet-patterned and finely carved.
