About This Material

A deep grey-black and dark green ground contains irregular labradorite crystals that flash blue, green and silver as the viewing angle changes. Supplier-declared properties Bulk density: 2.60–2.80 g/cm³. Dry compressive strength: 80–150 MPa. Flexural strength: 7–15 MPa. Water absorption: ≤0.20%; relatively dense. Mohs hardness: 6–6.5, higher than ordinary marble but lower than granite. Cleavage is present in the crystals, which may chip along crystal planes under strong impact. Mineral type: plagioclase (labradorite) metamorphic rock with optical iridescence. Characteristics Labradorite crystals flash blue and green as the viewing and lighting angles change. Crystal size and flash distribution vary naturally in every slab. Natural cleavage can cause edge chipping during vibration-heavy cutting or shaping; the source recommends wire-saw cutting and notes higher processing costs than ordinary marble. Applications Walls: villa feature walls, entrance focal walls, hotel and club lobbies and elevator art walls; backlighting or spotlights can emphasize crystal flashes. Tops: luxury dining and coffee tables, islands, club reception counters and vanities; protect the surface. Floors: villa entrances and living rooms in low-to-medium-traffic indoor areas; indoor stair treads. Other: artistic stone objects and decorative architectural elements. Care Although water absorption is low and acid resistance is better than carbonate marble, crystal gaps still contain micropores; seal before use. Prolonged outdoor UV exposure may gradually reduce crystal luster, so outdoor use is not recommended. Available finishes High-gloss polished Matte
